Sharp Corporation is a Japanese multinational corporation that designs and manufactures a broad range of consumer and industrial electronic products, including televisions, home appliances, mobile phones, and electronic components. Headquartered in Sakai, Osaka, Japan, the company was founded in 1912 by Tokuji Hayakawa, and its name is derived from his invention of the Ever-Sharp mechanical pencil. Since 2016, Sharp Corporation has been majority-owned by the Taiwan-based Foxconn Group.
